1. Information We Collect

• Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password via Amazon Cognito to authenticate your account securely.
• Garage Sale Listings. You may provide sale details, including the address, description, and optional photos of items you are selling.
• Public Listings. When you create a garage sale listing, the sale information — including the address — is publicly displayed on the GarageSail mobile app and on our website at https://mygaragesail.com so that other users and visitors can find your sale. Please do not include sensitive personal details in your descriptions or photos.
• Transaction Records. We may store simple sales totals for your personal tracking. GarageSail does not process or store payment card data.
• Device & Technical Information. AWS may log limited technical data (e.g., device type and operating system) to ensure security and reliability.
• Error & Diagnostic Data. We use a third-party crash and performance monitoring service, Sentry (provided by Sentry, Inc.), to help us identify and fix technical issues. When the app encounters a crash or performance problem, Sentry automatically collects diagnostic data such as device model, OS version, app version, timestamps, and technical details (for example, stack traces). These reports do not include personal content like your listings or messages. Sentry processes this data in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
• Location Data (Future Feature). If GPS features are added in the future, we will request your permission before collecting any location data and will use it only to help users discover nearby sales.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Operate and improve the GarageSail app and website.
• Allow others to discover your public sale listings by showing them on mygaragesail.com.
• Sync your listings across devices using AWS services.
• Maintain functionality, security, and reliability.
• Analyze de-identified data (e.g., trends by ZIP code) to improve the Service and potentially train future machine learning models.
• Monitor app stability and fix technical issues using anonymized crash and diagnostic reports provided by Sentry.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is securely stored and processed on Amazon Web Services (AWS). We use AWS Cognito for secure authentication and encryption. Diagnostic data processed by Sentry may be stored on servers located in the United States. We retain data for as long as needed to operate the Service or as required by law. You can request deletion of your personal data at any time (see Your Rights and Choices).

4. Public Listings

When you post a garage sale, your listing information (including address, description, and optional photos) is publicly viewable on both the GarageSail mobile app and on the website at https://mygaragesail.com. Consider your privacy when sharing information in listings.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Apart from your public listings (visible to anyone), your data remains private and stored securely on AWS. Limited diagnostic data may be shared with our crash monitoring provider, Sentry, solely for debugging and improving app stability.

6. Children’s Privacy

GarageSail is designed for adults and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Your Rights and Choices

• Request access to or deletion of your account data.
• Remove your sale listings at any time.
• Decline optional permissions such as GPS (if added in the future).
